The Jefferson Hotel, formerly known as the Grand Central Hotel, was a historic building located at 1145-47 Market Street in Wheeling, West Virginia. On June 15, 1936, the hotel moved from its Market Street location to the old Stamm House Hotel at 13th and Water Streets due to the planned demolition of the original building to make way for a J. C. McCrory company store. The Stamm House Hotel, which opened on June 25, 1866, was a popular destination for rivermen and had a long-standing reputation in the city. The new Jefferson Hotel at the Stamm House location was remodeled and equipped with modern accommodations for its guests.
After the move in 1936, the Stamm House building, now operating as the Jefferson Hotel, was used as a night club from 1937 to 1940. The building eventually became known as the Reid Hotel. On March 19, 1945, the structure collapsed and was subsequently torn down, marking the end of the historic hotel's existence in Wheeling.
