Father Joseph Jamula was born on February 25, 1916, in Windber, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Anthony and Catherine Niedzialek Jamula. He attended Lackawanna High School in New York and later Canisius College in Buffalo. He then pursued his religious studies at Our Lady of the Angels Seminary in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he was ordained as a Franciscan Friar on June 18, 1942. Father Jamula dedicated his life to serving the Catholic Church and its community. He served as a teacher and pastor in various locations before being assigned to St. Ladislaus Church in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1973. Under his leadership, the church underwent significant renovations and expanded its community outreach. Father Jamula was known for his dedication to his parishioners and his efforts to modernize the church. He served as the pastor of St. Ladislaus Church until its closure in 1995, due to declining membership and finances. Father Jamula passed away on June 14, 1997, in Wheeling, West Virginia, and was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, New York.
