Shawn Lucas Fluharty was born on January 5, 1984, in Wheeling, West Virginia. He graduated from John Marshall High School, where he developed an interest in public service and law. Fluharty pursued higher education at West Virginia University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism in 2006, and a Juris Doctor from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2009.
Fluharty began his career as an attorney, gaining recognition for his dedication to justice and community service. In 2014, he was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 3rd district. He has since been re-elected multiple times and currently serves the 5th district. Fluharty is known for his advocacy on issues such as healthcare, education, and economic development. He has held various leadership positions, including Minority Whip of the West Virginia House of Delegates since January 13, 2021.
Throughout his career, Fluharty has been actively involved in numerous organizations, including the West Virginia Bar Association, Ohio County Bar Association, and the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States. He continues to reside in Wheeling, where he remains committed to serving his community and improving the lives of his constituents.
