Sue Seibert Farnsworth was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, to George H. "Bud" Seibert Jr. and Janice Boone Seibert. She grew up in Wheeling and attended local public schools. Farnsworth graduated from West Virginia University (WVU) and its College of Law. Following in the footsteps of her parents, she pursued a career in law, focusing on wills and estates. Farnsworth held memberships in the American Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar Association, the Ohio County Bar Association, the American Bar Foundation, and the West Virginia Bar Foundation. She served on the West Virginia Board of Law Examiners and the Estate Planning Council of the Upper Ohio Valley. Her legal career was recognized with the WVU College of Law's Justitia Officium Award and the State Bar's Kaufmann Award for her pro bono work. In 2017, the West Virginia Bar Association honored her with its Award of Merit.
Farnsworth's public service extended to numerous organizations, including the Wheeling Park Commission, where she served from 1992 to 2022, and the Oglebay Foundation Board of Directors. She was also involved with the Community Foundation of the Ohio Valley, the Women's Giving Circle, and the Wheeling Symphony Board of Directors. Farnsworth's dedication to education led her to serve on the WV Board of Regents and the WVU Foundation Board of Directors. In 2019, she was inducted into the Wheeling Hall of Fame for her public service. Farnsworth's contributions to Wheeling and West Virginia have left a lasting impact on the community.
