Third Presbyterian Church was founded in late 1849 when members of First Presbyterian, Forks of Wheeling Presbyterian, and a Pennsylvania Presbyterian church organized a new church in Wheeling's Ritchietown suburb. The 14 charter members first met in Samuel Ott's home and then the Boggs Run schoolhouse. The first elders were Andrew Hall and Thomas McCombs. In 1850, Alfred Paull donated land at 3804 Jacob Street where the first church building was constructed. Over the years new buildings were erected at the site, culminating in the church at 3806 Jacob Street. Notable pastors included Jonathan Crosse, Joseph G. Lyle, and Robert R. Bigget. The church saw growth from revivals like Billy Sunday's 1912 campaign but declined during the Depression. Membership peaked at 561 in 1927 but dwindled to 25 by the 2006 closing. The building housed the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) until 2011 and now is home to Saints, Inc.
