The Princess Theatre, located in the new Hawley Building on Main Street in Wheeling, West Virginia, opened on Monday, April 6, 1914. The theatre, was designed to be fire-proof, clean, sanitary, well-ventilated, well-lit, and disinfected daily. The opening week's program featured a variety of films, including western dramas, comedies, and a series of modern detective stories, with a new feature shown every day.
