Henry Schmulbach (1844-1915) was a prominent German immigrant businessman and brewer in Wheeling, West Virginia. He started working in the grocery and liquor trades as a teenager before purchasing the Nail City Brewery in 1882, renaming it the Schmulbach Brewing Company. Schmulbach was a leader in Wheeling industry and transportation, serving as president of the German Bank (WesBanco), the Wheeling Bridge Company, and local telephone and streetcar companies. He built the popular Mozart Park and inclined railway in 1893. Schmulbach constructed West Virginia's first high-rise office building in 1904-07, the Schmulbach Building which still stands today.
