Frances Ann "Abigail Shelton" Compton, was born in Wheeling during the height of the Great Depression. She was the middle child of William and Esther Compton. Shelton's father worked as a mining engineer, while her mother pursued a career as a dietitian. She was an actress known for her roles on TV in the '60s. Shelton appeared multiple times on shows like "The Fugitive" and "Perry Mason" and in films such as "Zigzag," "8 Million Ways to Die," and "Friday the 13th: the Final Chapter." She had a successful 50-year career in over 75 stage, film, and television productions, including her one-woman show, "Zelda." Shelton was also a talented singer. She died on December 11, 2006.
