P. Welty & Co. was a prominent wholesale liquor business located at 1118 Main Street and 1121 Market Street in Wheeling, West Virginia, from 1885 to 1914. In anticipation of the state prohibition act, the company attempted to relocate to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1914, hoping to continue supplying its West Virginia customers from there. However, the move was short-lived, as the passage of national prohibition in 1918 ultimately forced P. Welty & Co. out of business.
